Research Scientist - Solution Spinning

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and demonstrate a high level of technical expertise in the areas of polymer solution spinning and carbon fiber interface design and provide leadership in these area to the organization

• Provide broad chemistry support to the R&D group, specifically in the area of acrylic fiber development

• Lead research and development projects for wet jet and dry jet solution spinning

• Deliver new products as a member of cross functional product development teams

• Engage in technical project collaborations with the Company’s R&D groups and selected University research groups

REQUIREMENTS

• MS or PhD (preferred) in Polymer Science with demonstrated research and/or product development expertise in surface and/or interface chemistry

• Strong background in organic or polymer chemistry

• 3 years minimum industry experience in polymer solution spinning

• General knowledge of carbon fibers, fiber reinforced composites, composite resins and resin/fiber interfaces

• Good communications skills

• Good planning & organizing skills

• Strong project leadership skills

• Demonstrated problem solving skills

• Project leadership experience

• Proficient with technical presentations
