Director of Research and Development

Publicly traded medical device company seeks a Director of Research and Development.   The company currently markets a therapeutic minimally invasive medical device for urology.  This Director of R&D will be responsible for overseeing the further development of the current product family as well as creating a product development plan to include identifying new projects, building cross functional support, creating milestone based budget and leading the R&D team to on-time successful completion of projects within budget.  The candidate will establish and manage each phase of technical development with their project teams.  This person must be able to manage a variety of team members, provide strategic input on long-range business plans, manage budgets, provide leadership across departments and ensure that all FDA, ISO and GMP regulations are being met.

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Science is required.  A minimum of eight to ten years experience in a medical device engineering and product development position is highly desirable.  Preferred candidates will have product development experience with Class III medical devices.  This candidate must have the ability to demonstrate proficiency and manage across technical areas of expertise including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.  Candidates must have experience working with an active product line and a successful record of identifying and bringing to market new products.
