Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Verify operational compliance with Safety Quality Management (SQM) corporate procedures and ensure that policy development is in accordance with relevant rules and regulations;
2. Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to senior management for safety and security related technical and regulatory issues; may serve as corporate representative for policy related matters at the industry level and with other organizations such as the International Maritime Organization, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the National Transportation Safety Board;
3. Develop and maintain the corporation’s Situation Management plans and procedures; prepare and conduct incident management exercises for senior management to test organizational preparedness to respond to emergencies, develop lessons learned from exercises and drive continuous improvement in these areas;
4. Leads departments that assure the company is in compliance of regulatory code, including Information Security Management (ISM) regulations and requirements.
5. Oversees the SQM & audit process for the company and coordinates with classification societies.
6. Coordinate and develop investigation processes and systems for managing security and safety incidents,
including reporting the facts, contributing factors and recommendations to applicable departments and senior management, and tracking corrective action on recommendations approved by senior management;
7. Establish and track leading indicators for operational risk related areas and develop corporate safety and security metrics.
8. Administer RCL’s Management Review process in accordance with the ISM Code, coordinate Operational Review Boards and the Executive Management Review process; develop briefings for RCL Board of Directors as required;
9. Develop and administer approximately $8M+ annual budget (SG&A), ensuring corporate priorities are met with efficiency and accountability.
