JOB DESCRIPTION

Northrop Grumman is seeking a senior level Health Research Analyst/Epidemiologist to serve as the lead analyst in developing analytic plans and conducting statistical analyses for studies of risk factors and trends in diabetes and related complications. Studies frequently use large national public health and behavioral risk factor data sets. Position will perform analyses using SAS and SUDAAN and evaluate existing software for meeting the complex needs of technical and scientific professions. Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of public health surveillance, specifically topics on diabetes and kidney disease. Serves as lead and collaborative scientist for assigned topics to: Conduct literature review and evaluate information for relevance to assigned topics Identify best sources of data for the specific topics Identify approach for organization and analysis of relevant data Use existing software tools or develop new data analysis and reporting software as needed Perform required data management and data analyses tasks and prepare reports illustrating results Develop scientific articles to be published in peer review journals and for development of internal reports related to diabetes care and public health policy. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities PhD with 4 years of experience or Masters Degree with 7 years of experience in public health, epidemiology, or related field. Ability to develop statistical analytic plans and approaches for the development of scientific studies for publication. Ability to manage and analyze data in a PC-LAN environment. Proficiency with programs in statistical analyses packages, such as, SAS and SUDAAN. Knowledge of computer operations in public health surveillance environments. Experience working with at least one large national datasets, such as National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Comprehensive knowledge of public health surveillance Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must provide list of publications and sample writing. The qualified individual should possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to function with diverse scientific staff in an collaborative environment and to serve as prime technical contact.
