OVERVIEW: Researches, develops, designs, integrations, and tests power electronics components, equipment, and systems for Oil Field Automation. Develops both hardware and firmware for distributive control applications.
- Focus on power electronics centered on design, development, integration and testing of these high power devices in an Industrial Environment. In general, the systems will include analog / digital electronics, control software / firmware, advanced control theory, / methods, mechanical control, electric motor control, variable frequency drives and displays / instrumentation.
- Familiar and comfortable with all aspects of Electro-mechanical packaging / design including : Design for Manufacturability, Cost Sensitivity and use of standard analog circuitry and power electronics topologies.
- Design and development following firm’s SOP.
- Design and fabricate test control apparatus and equipment, and determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing Automation products.
- Ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and consumer requirements.
- Analyze problems and generate engineering change orders in support of existing products.
- Familiarization with Domestic and International Engineering Quality Codes, Standards and Practice.
- Familiarization aid Domestic and International Accredited Certification Agencies.
- Full comprehension of firm’s product line and its peripherals.
- Project Status Update : management, development team and customer.
- Technical Support Travel : Domestic and International.
- Pilot projects deployment
- System and product troubleshooting
- Client / Customer and Associates training
- Client / Customer product design review meetings
- System and product evaluation
- Sales support meetings
- Maintain confidentiality with the information being processed, stored or accessed.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited college or university.
- 3-5 years related experience and/or training.
- Working knowledge of oilfield PLC, instrumentation, control panels, motors, starters, pump rods, power distribution / control and VFD variable frequency drives / VSD speed drives is required.
- Strong Electrical Engineering foundation on Power, Motors and Drive theory and principles.
- Strong theoretical and practical background on Proper Grounding, Surge Protection, Harmonics, ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD), Noise Filtering, etc.
- Experience with troubleshooting tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzer, multi-meters, protocol analyzer and high voltage / current measurement tools, etc.
- Experience on Remote Telemetry using RF radio and SCADA.
- Competency on design and analysis software.
- Embedded programming competency is a plus. Programming language such as C, C++ and Assembly.
- Effective communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Team oriented, high degree of work ethic and ability to work on a multicultural environment and cross-functional team.
