Job Description

Responsibilities include: process development through analysis, (e.g., thermal and fluid transport, surface chemistry), and empirical studies; specification of materials of construction, joining methods, and preparation techniques to accommodate high vacuum, high voltage, and thermal stresses; definition of specifications for production equipment developed in-house or procured commercially; support of manufacturing through troubleshooting, statistical and forensic (root cause) analysis.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience with vacuum devices; preference will be given to candidates experienced with electron systems.

Minimum Qualifications

- Ph.D./Sc.D. in Applied Science or Engineering

- 5+ years of industrial experience

- Expertise in vacuum science and technology

- Proficiency with materials science/metallurgy

- Familiarity with high voltage (~150kV) equipment

- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Pragmatic, results-oriented, collaborative attitude
