JOB DESCRIPTION

 


This job contributes to Starbucks success by setting the strategic direction of the Global Partner & Asset Protection function consistent with the overall company strategy.  Ensures the safety of all partners, secures all assets and contributes to profit margins by reducing losses.  Responsible for security activities in all Starbucks business units, the global supply chain, joint venture and strategic partnerships and global facilities which includes physical security, security systems, investigations and executive protection.  Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.   Summary of key responsibilities   Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:


 


 


 


  Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:


 





  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.



  • Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote Starbucks key messages and achieve a competitive advantage.




 


  Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work groups, managing execution, and measuring results:


 





  • Plans and manages business unit/department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with the Company’s business goals and objectives.



  • Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.



  • Assesses business needs and deploys department resources appropriately.



  • Develops the annual operating plan, budget, and quarterly forecast updates for function.




 


  Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:


 





  • Identifies prevailing and future security risks to the business and develops relevant prevention, detection and mitigation strategies.



  • Determines appropriate levels of risk to the business and effectively communicates risks to leadership.



  • Conducts risk assessments of current and proposed business operations.  Develops programs, protocols and makes recommendations to counter risks posed by ongoing global and domestic security issues.



  • Directs the development and delivery of programs designed to keep partners and customers safe and reduce losses to the Company.



  • Ensures maintenance of effective global law enforcement relationships.



  • Ensures all business lines and functions incorporate partner and asset protection systems and programs and plans for new products or changes in operational procedures.



  • Plays a key leadership role in crisis management and emergency response situations.




 


  Partner Development/Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:


 





  • Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.



  • Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.



  • Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.



  • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.



  • Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.










Summary of Experience


 





  • Progressive experience in investigations, loss prevention or security management at a public or private security organization - 10 years



  • Leadership including strategy development and implementation of security programs in a major multi-unit business operation or major law enforcement agency - 5 years



  • Exposure to international security operations




 


  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


 





  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities



  • Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to project management and change management processes



  • Ability to direct the work of others in a matrixed structure



  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
