The Community Superintendent (CS) is the superintendent of schools of the community school district. The CS oversees and supports schools in the district, consistent with applicable laws, by-laws, rules and regulations of the Chancellor and the Commissioner of Education, and the educational policies of the Panel for Educational Policy and the District Community Education Council (CEC). The CS works closely with the Office of Accountability and advises the Chancellor and the senior leadership team on establishing and maintaining a performance and outcome-focused culture citywide.
